The Book
Coming SoonA book that stays with you like an old friend. Some pages will remind you of places you've already been. Some will meet you exactly where you are. And some will point toward where you're headed.
IT MATTERS A LOT.
Coming SoonWhat the Book Is About
Every life, at some early point, is interrupted by a single unanswerable question: why does any of this matter? Most of us set that question aside and spend the following decades in motion, building careers, families, and identities, without ever quite returning to it.
It Matters A Lot is a work of literary nonfiction written in that return. It follows a complete human life, from childhood to old age, in search of what actually forms a person: not the milestones that mark a life from the outside, but the unexamined forces that shape it from within.
A single conviction runs beneath the entire book: that character is formed less by what a person accumulates than by what they notice, and by whether they remain capable of kindness along the way.
It Matters A Lot will find its natural audience among readers of serious, spiritually engaged nonfiction. It does not aim to console. It aims to clarify, and its ultimate purpose is unadorned: to help readers see the life already in progress, recognise what matters, and respond to it while there is still time to do so.
Four Stages, Four Questions
It Matters A Lot is not a book of answers. It is an invitation back to the question, the one you probably asked once too, before someone told you it was better to keep it quiet. Each chapter in this book sits with a different stage of life, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, old age, not to tell you how to live it, but to slow you down inside it.
The questions, as they appear in the book
Childhood (Ch.1)
When and around whom did you learn to make yourself quieter?
Adolescence (Ch.4)
When a teenager close to you starts pulling away, is your first instinct to control them or to understand them?
Adulthood (Ch.13)
In which aspect of your life are you stretching yourself so thin that you no longer feel your own presence?
Old Age (Ch.19)
You know that your time is limited. Can you change the way you are living today?
From the Introduction
“There is a difference between existing and truly living.”
